Heracles Almelo's Powerchair Football team made history in the last week of February by going international. The team traveled to Liverpool in the United Kingdom, where they faced Wrexham AFC, Liverpool FC (Greenbank Academy), and Manchester City. This was the first time a Dutch Powerchair Football team took on such a challenge, marking a significant milestone for the club. For the players and their families, it was an unforgettable journey, allowing them to represent Heracles Almelo abroad. During the trip, a Heracles shirt was presented to Wrexham, highlighting the international connection. The team also visited the iconic stadiums of Liverpool and Manchester City, creating unforgettable memories. Joep Hiddink, coordinator of the Heracles Foundation, praised the organization of the trip and the experience provided to all 12 players. This international experience was made possible by the dedication of volunteers and the support of Stichting Jirah, which is committed to the development of Powerchair Football in Almelo. Since the team's establishment in 2024, Heracles Almelo has participated in a national competition in the Netherlands, with players training weekly at the Topsporthal IISPA in Almelo.
