Heracles Almelo lost the Special Cup Overijssel 1-0 to Go Ahead Eagles. The cup match took place at the Fanny Blankers-Koen Stadium in Hengelo. The match was part of the Special Cup Overijssel, an annual event where paid football clubs from Overijssel work together to create a stronger and more inclusive Overijssel. The clubs work together on social projects, with the goal of increasing their social impact in the region. Heracles Almelo participated in the cup match together with FC Twente, Go Ahead Eagles, and PEC Zwolle. The match was played in two categories: under 18 and over 18. The match refereeing was in the hands of former Eredivisie referee Eric Braamhaar and FC Twente player Lynn Groenewegen. The Special Cup Overijssel is more than a football tournament for athletes with a disability. It shows every year how strong the cooperation between the four paid football organizations from Overijssel is. FC Twente, Heracles Almelo, Go Ahead Eagles, and PEC Zwolle work together on social projects, with the goal of increasing their social impact in the region. After a sporty afternoon full of enthusiasm and respect, the final whistle was blown at 15.30. For Go Ahead Eagles, it was a liberating end signal, as it meant that the 1-0 lead against Heracles Almelo remained and they ultimately won every match! The players and coaches couldn't contain their joy and took the trophy in triumph.
