Heracles Almelo has strengthened its squad with the signing of Manny Rodríguez, who has been presented as their fifth new player of the season. The 26-year-old left-back is an eight-time international for the Dominican Republic and joins from Linares Deportivo, which plays in the fourth tier of Spain. Rodríguez has signed a contract for two seasons with an option for an additional year. He has previously played in the youth academy of Atlético Madrid and brings considerable experience. Rodríguez describes himself as a strong, fast, and competitive player who always works hard for the team. He enjoys one-on-one situations defensively and is also strong offensively, with ambitions to create chances and contribute to goals. The signing of Rodríguez is notable as Heracles has already brought in several players for the left-back position, including Mario Borac and Max Hauswirth. Technical director Ernest Faber emphasizes that the club was looking for a back with intensity and defensive aggression. Rodríguez meets these requirements and is seen as a valuable addition to the team. In addition to Rodríguez, Heracles has also signed midfielder Maurice Wrusch from Schalke 04 and activated the purchase option in the loan contract of Walid Ould-Chikh.
